When tax incentives help us to be generous, we have to make the most of it!
The federal government has just implemented a temporary tax credit: the First-Time Donor’s Super Credit, available from March 21st, 2013. This new credit would allow first time charitable donors or, donors not having claimed donation tax credits since 2007, to receive an additional 25% tax return on donations.
For example: for a $200 donation, the actual cost would be $80*
*Standard tax credit of $70 (both Federal and Provincial) plus the additional $50 from the Super credit = a tax return of $120.
